Automated dynamic image analysis of particle size and shape from 0.55 µm to 2,000 µm in suspensions and emulsions
The versatile image analysis sensor QICPIC, together with the powerful wet disperser SUCELL/L, offers reliable and method-true particle size and shape analyses in suspensions and emulsions from 0.55 µm to 2,000 µm. This configuration is the optimal solution for demanding measurement tasks in the sample circuit with validation option. The setting of all dispersion and measurement parameters is software-supported and available as a retrievable measurement method (Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)) if required.
SUCELL/L is equipped with a stainless-steel liquid basin with 500 ml analysis volume and a peristaltic pump. Smaller sample volumes are realised by a small volume adapter with 50 ml. Highly agglomerated samples are dispersed directly in the basin by the powerful ultrasonic unit. Two immersing stirrers homogenise the sample reliably. The pump ensures a uniform flow through the measuring cuvette, which is adapted to the sample with layer thicknesses of 0.2 mm, 0.5 mm, 1 mm, 2 mm or 4 mm. All functions such as rinsing, filling, degassing, additive addition, pump and stirrer speed, ultrasonic treatment as well as triggers for the measurement are controlled via the operating display or via the software.
Durability and a consistent use in the laboratory environment is ensured by the use of various materials for seals and hoses (e.g. PTFE, Marprene®, FKM (Viton®), FFKM, EPDM, NBR, CHEM-SURE®).
The evaluation with the PAQXOS application software provides all relevant size and shape characteristics. The results are displayable both as a distribution and individually for each particle.
The modular concept of the QICPIC image analysis sensors allows this configuration to be systematically expanded with numerous dispersion units and dosing options, thereby opening it up to many more product-appropriate measuring applications. If frequent changes between dry and wet dispersion are required then the SUCELL/L is optionally available with the proven dry dispersion unit RODOS/L as a combined dry and wet dispersion unit OASIS/L.
